SafeTaper is a specialized telemedicine practice founded by Dr. Nathaniel Lepp, MD MPH, focused on providing medically-supervised benzodiazepine tapering services. We help clients safely discontinue benzodiazepine medications through a compassionate, evidence-based approach that recognizes the unique challenges of chemical dependence versus addiction. Our practice serves clients nationwide who need specialized care for iatrogenic medication dependence.

### Position Overview

MUST BE ABLE TO PRESCRIBE IN ALL STATES.

We are seeking a compassionate and clinically skilled Nurse Practitioner to join our specialized team in providing medically-supervised benzodiazepine tapering services. This is a unique opportunity to work in a niche but critically important area of healthcare, helping clients navigate the complex process of safely discontinuing benzodiazepine medications while managing withdrawal symptoms and supporting their overall well-being.

### Key Responsibilities

**Clinical Care:**

- Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients seeking benzodiazepine tapering services
- Develop individualized tapering schedules based on client history, current medications, and withdrawal risk factors
- Monitor clients throughout the tapering process via telemedicine consultations
- Prescribe and manage medications to support safe withdrawal and symptom management
- Assess and manage withdrawal symptoms, adjusting treatment plans as needed
- Provide crisis intervention and support during difficult phases of tapering

**Client Communication & Support:**

- Conduct regular follow-up appointments to monitor progress and adjust treatment plans
- Provide education about the tapering process, withdrawal symptoms, and coping strategies
- Offer emotional support and encouragement throughout the challenging withdrawal process
- Collaborate with clients to address life stressors that may impact tapering success
- Maintain detailed documentation of client progress and treatment responses

**Collaborative Care:**

- Work closely with Dr. Lepp and the SafeTaper team to ensure continuity of care
- Participate in case reviews and treatment planning discussions
- Stay current on best practices in benzodiazepine tapering and withdrawal management
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and patient care protocols

### Required Qualifications

**Education & Licensure:**

- Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)
- Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner (preferably multi-state compact)
- Board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) with addiction medicine experience
- Current DEA registration with prescriptive authority
- Valid telemedicine credentials for practice in multiple states

**Experience & Skills:**

- Minimum 2 years of experience as a practicing Nurse Practitioner
- Experience in addiction medicine, psychiatric care, or withdrawal management preferred
- Knowledge of benzodiazepine pharmacology and withdrawal protocols
- Experience with telemedicine platforms and remote patient care
- Strong assessment and diagnostic skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, and withdrawal symptoms

- Experience with benzodiazepine tapering protocols
- Knowledge of the Ashton Manual and gradual tapering methodologies
- Experience working with clients who have iatrogenic medication dependence
- Bilingual capabilities (Spanish preferred)
- Experience in subscription-based or concierge medical practices
