Patient population: Critically ill patients with complex medical, surgical or neurological problems. Typical issues may include respiratory failure, ARDS (including extracorporeal life support), sepsis, cardiac arrest and complications of chronic medical conditions. Harborview is the county hospital for King County in Seattle, WA and serves patients from diverse backgrounds including marginalized populations (e.g. inmates, immigrants, persons experiencing homelessness) and is also the main referral center for advanced medical and surgical care within the WWAMI region.
APP ($10,000 sign on bonus), ICU HOSPITALIST FLOAT
Join Harborview Medical Center as ARNP, Nurse Practitioner; or PA-C, Physician Assistant ("APP") for the ICU APP Float Position. *This is a "90% FTE", Days, position covering all ICUs based on need, and also includes weekends, holidays, and some night coverage. $10,000 Recruitment Incentive/Sign-On Bonus for eligible new employees joining UW Medicine.
The APP will rotate through 3 different ICUs: the neuro ICU, trauma/surgical ICU and Medical ICU. Under general administrative supervision of the Assistant Director of Inpatient APPs, and medical supervision of the medical director, the APP provides clinical expertise to patients and their families, is a resource person for health care providers, and participates in research and teaching programs. Work is performed 7 days a week with general independence and decision-making responsibility, under the guidance of the attending physicians, and in consultation with the critical care fellow. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
Patient Care:
- Admit new patients (e.g. write admission note, develop initial assessments/plans, place admission orders in EMR)
- Provide frontline coverage for admitted patients
Behavioral Health APP ($10,000 sign on bonus) - OUTPATIENT BEHAVIORAL HEALTH CLINIC
Harborview Medical Center has an outstanding opportunity for a ARNP, Nurse Practitioner; or PA-C, Physician Assistant to join our Outpatient Behavioral Health Clinic. The role involves functioning as a ARNP or PA behavioral health care coordinator. Responsibilities include assessing and evaluating psychiatric/medical needs, case management, training students, and coordinating client care.

Orthopedic Trauma APP $10,000 sign on bonus - Emergency Department
Harborview Medical Center has new job opportunities within our nationally recognized orthopedic trauma service. The successful candidate will be a critical part of the daily responsibilities of our orthopedic trauma services supporting Harborview’s Emergency Department with the following job duties:
- The APP will be scheduled during peak trauma hours and weekends, particularly when our residents are on call for trauma, spine and hand call. Priority will be for morning hours.
- The APP will participate in emergency room consultation, inpatient admission, and minor procedures, working closely with emergency room providers and orthopaedic residents.
- Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives to improve quality and efficiency of care through the ED.
- Additional responsibilities will include triaging consults to the orthopaedic residents, assisting with splinting and interventions (closed reductions, I&D’s, suturing, etc.).
Hours: Typically 10 hour shifts with rotating weekends, (80 hours every 14 days) and the potential for some nights.

Harborview Medical Center Inpatient Neurology APP This opening is for a 100% FTE, day shift position with weekend and holiday coverage, no calls, and potential for night coverage in the future.
